Volunteer
MEP volunteers allow us to provide excellent educational services to help many girls and women while keeping our operational costs low.
Here are some ways you can help:
- Tutor (more detail below)
- Teach
- Answer phones and welcome students
- Host a house party for MEP
- Assist with girls’ activities
- Chaperone a field trip
- Present in a field of interest
- Share a skill
- Collect items on our Wish List
- Introduce MEP to your friends
- Help with clerical tasks
Tutor
Tutors are needed for girls in grades 1 - 8. Help students who are below grade level in reading and/or math strengthen their academic skills and their confidence as learners.
Below are the specifications for volunteer tutors:
- After-school program, late-September to late-May
- One-on-one, curriculum-based (not just homework help) format
- Tutors work with the same student(s) throughout the year
- Training & materials are provided
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday
- 4:15 - 5:45 p.m and/or 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
- Stipends may be available for volunteers able to commit to more than one day per week
Tutors are also needed for women in our adult literacy and GED preparation classes. Help students with reading, math and other subjects one or more days weekly, Monday-Thursday, 9:15 - 11:30 a.m and/or 11:30 a.m - 1:00 p.m.
