Volunteer

MEP volunteers allow us to provide excellent educational services to help empower girls and women through education while also keeping our operational costs down.

Here are some ways you can help:

  • Tutor
  • Teach
  • Answer phones and welcome students
  • Host a house party for MEP
  • Assist with girls’ activities
  • Chaperone a field trip
  • Present in a field of interest
  • Share a skill
  • Collect items on our Wish List
  • Introduce MEP to your friends
  • Help with clerical tasks

Tutor

Tutors are needed for girls in grades 2 - 12. Help students who are below grade level in reading and/or math strengthen their academic skills and their confidence as learners. Check out our flyer for more details.

Below are the specifics for volunteer tutors:

  • After-school or Saturday program, late-September to late-May
  • One-to-one, curriculum-based format (we do not provide homework help)
  • Tutors work with the same student(s) throughout the year
  • Training & materials are provided
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday: 4:15 - 5:45 p.m and/or 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 11:00 am - 12:00 pm and/or 1:00 - 2:00 pm

Tutors are also needed for women in our  GED preparation classes.

  • Help students with GED subject specific preparation: science, language arts, mathematics, social studies
  • Tutor one or more days weekly
  • Small group or one-to-one instruction
  • Training & materials are provided
  • Monday-Thursday, 9:00- 11:30 a.m and/or 11:30 a.m - 1:30 p.m.
