Onboarding Steps

MEP is licensed Child Care Center.

  • Fill out the Michigan Background Check Form and get fingerprinted

    Download and fill out the Michigan Child Care Background Check Consent and Disclosure form. MEP needs original (not electronic) signatures on a hard copy to keep on file. Please send by mail to

    OR drop by Monday - Thursday, 9 am - 6 pm.

    After we receive your form, MEP will input the info into our account with the State of Michigan and you will be sent an email (via MiLEAP-CCBC-Info@michigan.gov) with a link to a form to print that will include our agency ID and your confirmation ID, plus a direct link to schedule your fingerprinting appointment. You will be able to select an approved fingerprinting site from a list of locations.

    MEP will send you a 17-digit "coupon code" for you to present at your appointment. The $66.25 fingerprinting fee will be paid by MEP using this unique 17-digit code. Be sure to print the MiLEAP Child Care Background Check Fingerprint Request Form to take with you along with your Driver's License/State ID.

    Retain your receipt after the appointment and turn into the Volunteer Coordinator.

  • Create a Michigan Virtual Account and complete Training Modules A, B, and C

    Create an account with Michigan Virtual and complete three Health & Safety for Licensed Child Care Providers, Modules A, B, and C. These learning modules are self-paced.

    Please see the PDF below for more step-by-step instructions on how to create a Michigan Virtual account.

    After completing each module, you should receive an email with your Certificate of Completion from Michigan Virtual within six hours of completing the course. Please save a copy for your own records and email all three Certificates of Completion to volunteer@mercyed.net as PDFs or as Brightspace webpage links.

    (Please note that some of the content within the learning modules are not 100% applicable to our tutoring program but all three modules are part of the state licensing requirements for licensed child care centers. Thank you for understanding.)
