Volunteer
Mercy Education Project volunteers play a crucial role in helping MEP provide excellent educational services to empower girls and women through education.
Volunteer Tutors Needed!
A key component of our Girls’ Program is one-to-one tutoring in Reading and Math for students in grades 2-12. Tutoring takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 pm in person at MEP. During our afterschool program, a different group of girls attend each day to enjoy a meal, a STEAM activity, and tutoring. This is where you come in! Once a week at 5:30 pm, you will tutor a girl who has been assigned to you for the school year. They will be selected based on your availability, grade preference, and subject choice.
If every week is not something you’re sure you can commit to, but you still want to be involved, you can sign up to be a substitute tutor and we will contact you if a regular tutor is out for the day.
New tutors receive training and there is no weekly prep work – you’ll be watching each lesson with your student, then offering guidance before they take end-of-unit tests. Sometimes, the students also bring in homework they need help with.
