Impact100 Metro Detroit Awards $100,000 Grant to MEP

What a thrill it was to make it all the way to Impact100 Metro Detroit's 9th Annual Big Give dinner on May 22, and then be selected as one of the night's two top grant recipients!

Impact100 Metro Detroit is an organization of women transforming lives and communities through collective giving. Each member donates $1,000 annually, and (after an extensive application and review process), the membership awards one or more $100,000 grants. This year MEP and First Step Wayne County each received $100,000, and the other three top finalists received $7,000 each.

Each of the five top finalists gave a five-minute "live pitch" at the dinner. MEP Executive Director Mark Mals' live pitch painted a vivid picture of why MEP students deserve remodeled learning spaces.

The redesign was the focus of our grant application and will update MEP's current facility, as it is no longer adequate for the number of students or the variety of learning experiences offered. Existing spaces at MEP will be transformed into versatile learning environments that accommodate large group learning and classes as well as one-to-one tutoring and individualized testing.
