School's Out for Summer (Camps)!

Thanks to a new Michigan Department of Education Out-of-School Time grant, MEP Girls' Program is excited to launch five new summer day camps in July and August.

First up, Middle School Math Bootcamp, led by Mark Weisenthal (MEP's Women's Program math instructor), will dive into decimals, fractions, percentages, integers, quadrants, and more, including exploring math-related careers. Next is the Young Author Writing Camp, where elementary girls will learn about storytelling and components of a story and even create their own book.

LEGO and Game Design camps will both explore how math and technology apply in real life. These hands-on camps will get students excited and engaged with math in new ways.

Health and Wellness Camp, supported by a grant from Total Health Care Foundation, will be open to all grades (2-12) and will include a take home kit.

And of course we are bringing back the ever-popular Emerging Leaders two-week summer program for middle school girls, funded by the H.T. Ewald Foundation. Emerging Leaders includes a multitude of field trips and leadership-building activities. Students will broaden their horizons with visits to Charles H. Wright Museum, Yankee Air Museum, the Detroit Zoo, and more.

Camps are free to enroll and will include lunch for students. We are almost at capacity for all camps.
